A real fruit juice in Cusco

Me fui de vacaciones al Cusco para visitar Macchupicchu. Me quede en un publito llamado "San Blas". Ahi habia un mercadito, en donde se puede encontrar de todo. La gente local compra su canasta familiar aqui, y yo compre todos mis desayunos y este jugazo! Tiene hasta sabila!

I went on vacation to Cusco to visit Macchupicchu and stayed in a little town name "San Blas". There was a little market, a public market. Here you could find everything. The locals get their groceries here and I got all my breakfasts and of course this amazing juice. It has sabila!

The well known POLLO INKA (@Hawthorne ave) ★★☆☆☆

Y aquí tenemos al susodicho Pollo Inka...?Quien no conoce esta cadena?

Well well well...Who doesn't know about this food chain in LA?

Si piensas que estás comiendo comida tradicional peruana, estás MUY EQUIVOCADO/A. No digo que este lugar sea un completo desastre, tienen bonita decoración... pero su comida, de peruana no TIENE NADA! Y hay algunos platos que no son muy saludables.

If you think you are eating authentic Peruvian food in this place, you are WRONG. I am not saying that the place sucks, they have nice decoration...but it is FAR AWAY from original food and in some cases unhealthy.

Lo único que hacen bien en este lugar es el pollo a la brasa, el resto no vale la pena probar.

All they do right, is the chicken with fries. The rest, don't even try. This is how they make all the other dishes:

Aquí se cocinan TODOS los pollos "a la brasa". El restaurante usa los mismos pollos que cocinan a la brasa en todos los demás platos. Y como todos sabemos cada plato necesita una preparación distinta, pero a ellos no les importa. Le meten el pollo a la brasa a todos los demás platos. Todo lo que compres que sea con pollo tendrá pollo a la brasa. Todo.
En pocas palabras un engaño.

All the chickens are cooked "a la brasa" - Rotisserie. They use this same chicken in all other Peruvian dishes. In real life, each dish requires a different preparation, but this guys don't even care, they just add the chicken that they have already cooked to all the other dishes that they offer.

In a few words... A mickey mouse of food, a trick, a cheap trick...

Lo rescatable...

El pollo a la brasa que venden, el pan de cortesía, la salsa verde de ají y el aguadito de pollo. Lo demás NO VALE LA PENA. Pollo Inca es uno de los peores lugares. La gente que vienen aquí no sabe nada de comida peruana. Hay mejores lugares en el área, puedes ir al INCA GOURMET- BUFFET que es mucho más barato y de mucho mejor sabor.

The few good things...

Pollo a la brasa, the bread that they serve, the green soup (aguadito) and the aji souce on the table. Other than that, Pollo Inca is one of the worse places you can go. Don't be fooled. The people that go there don't know ANYTHING about Peruvian Food. There are better places in this area. Go to the Inka Gourmet-Buffet instead. Way cheaper and BETTER FOOD!

Insulto a la comida:

Mi Pisco Sour llego de la licuadora y con pedazos de hielo en la espuma, ademas era solo azúcar y tenia demasiada canela. Mi vaso se puso marrón. Un desastre. Un insulto.

The insult to Peruvian food:

The Pisco Sour arrived to my table directly from the blender. There were ice chunks on my foam. A disaster of Pisco Sour, too sweet, with a lot of cinamon... an insult to the Pisco Sour connoisseur.

TODOS LOS SALTADOS SON PÉSIMOS. Ni los pidas. Te vas a enfermar.

ALL THE SALTADOS SUCK here. Don't try them. You'll get sick.

La quinua que probé... ayayay. Tenia esperanzas, es un plato tan simple de hacer, difícil de estropear, pero estos tíos hicieron lo mejor que pudieron para matar al plato (tan solo mira la foto). TE RUEGO QUE NO LO COMPRES. Te vas a llevar una decepción vas a terminar odiando la comida peruana.

The quinoa... oh my god the quinua. I had high hopes for this one. It is so simple to make, no way to F it up but these guys did a terrific job making the worse quinua I have ever tried in my live (see pic). Please, PLEASE I BEG YOU, don't eat it. You'll be disappointed and you'll hate Peruvian food.

En pocas palabras. UN LUGAR SOBRE EVALUADO. Un insulto a todos los peruanos. Deberíamos cerrar este local por el amor de dios.

In a few words. WAY OVER RATED! This is an insult to all Peruvians. We should ban this place for god sake.

Los camiones-restaurant/Cocina móvil

TRUCK FOOD- MOBILE CUISINE

Hay una nueva tendencia los "Truck Food" o camiones restaurante. Estos camiones adaptados para cocinar al paso están en todo LA. Los hay de diferentes tipos de cocina, tamaño y precio.

Acá les dejaré las fotos de todos los camiones que me encuentre en el camino. Puedes colaborar con tus propias fotos. Solo mandame un mensaje y lo posteamos aqui.

Balcones del Perú ★★☆☆☆

Fuimos a los "Balcones del Perú" y nos gustó solamente los platos con salsa "A LA CHORRILLANA". Esta es sin duda la especialidad de la casa, lo demás se puede pasar.

We went to "Balcones del Peru" and we only liked the dishes that had the "A LA CHORRILLANA" sauce. This is for sure the specialty of the house.

También nos gustó que nos dieran pan para picar, no muchos locales hacen lo mismo. La salsita de ají para picar también estuvo rica.
We also liked that they served bread, not many Peruvian restaurants do it. The aji sauce was good as well.

Los otros platos sorprenden poco o nada, el ceviche, la papa a la huancaina no son merecedores de compra.
None of the other dishes surprised us, don't buy the ceviche nor the papa a la huancaina

Y sobre todo evitar el "Bisteck A Lo Pobre". Es una copia mal hecha del plato argentino "Entraña". No lo recomiendo. No lo saben hacer, de peruano no tiene nada.
And most important avoid the "Bisteck a lo Pobre". This is a bad copy of the Argentinian dish "Entraña". They don't know how do the traditional Peruvian dish.

El servicio no está mal, pero el mesero que me atendió ese día era medio confianzudo y sucio (estaba sudado) no me gustó y me ofendio un poco que me diga que yo no parecía peruano...

The service wasn't that bad, however the server was a bit annoying and a bit dirty (he was sweating) I didn't like him, I took offense when he told me that I didn't look Peruvian! WTF?

Un poco ignorante no saber que el Perú tiene de inga y de mandinga (de todo).
It is a bit ignorant not to know that Peru is an eclectic culture.
